OIERP Survey Guidelines

Purpose

The purpose of these guidelines is to describe the role of OIERP in the administration of surveys that target Lincoln University students, faculty, staff or other stakeholders and in the administration of Qualtrics accounts and usage by the campus community.

Role of OIERP in Survey Administration

OIERP coordinates the administration of various surveys for purposes of institutional effectiveness, internal decision-making support, MSCHE accreditation support and institutional benchmarking. Surveys administered to the campus community by OIERP must meet the above mentioned criteria. OIERP does not administer surveys for individual faculty, staff or student research, class based projects, student organizations or individual unit needs.

OIERP is available to provide consultation on survey methodology for other constituencies seeking to conduct a survey for unit assessment. Consultation services include: reviewing survey questions, response choices and sampling strategy for adherence to survey best practices. Requests for survey support are subject to the discretion of OIERP. Online resources are available to help you design your survey according to best practices:

For guidance and procedures related to human subjects’ research, please contact the Institutional Review Board of Lincoln University. Additional approval by senior leadership may be needed.

Role of OIERP in Qualtrics Administration

Qualtrics is an online survey software to help organizations create and administer surveys.

Currently, OIERP creates user accounts for Qualtrics. User accounts may be created for faculty, staff or students at Lincoln University. Management of individual user accounts is the sole responsibility of the person/office to whom the account belongs. Requests for user accounts should be sent to oierp@lincoln.edu. Additionally, Qualtrics provides online access to survey resources and Qualtrics training.
