The awards for 2023 will be announced on Thursday, March 16, 2023, during the in-person Staff Recognition and Awards Ceremony.
Anyone may submit a nomination for the first three awards, however, the recipient will be chosen by cabinet members only.
The President's Award for Excellence has been created to provide recognition for staff members who embody the spirit and mission of the institution and personally honor them for their effort and contribution to the Lincoln Community.
To be nominated for the President's Award for Excellence, the individual must excel at one of the strategic themes:
Two President's Award for Excellence recipients will be honored: one exempt staff member and one non-exempt staff member. Employees must be a Lincoln employee (non-faculty) and must have completed at least two years of continuous full-time service in the department for which he or she works.
The President, the Executive Leadership Cabinet, assistant and associate provosts, assistant and associate vice presidents, executive directors, all levels of deans, academic department chairs, and full-time faculty are not eligible for this award.
Because this is the highest-level award, cabinet members will have the opportunity to nominate up to three individuals from their respective divisions. A cabinet-level selection committee will forward the top five nominees with the President for review and final selection.
The recipients will receive a $1,500 stipend and a commemorative plaque.
The Office of Institutional Equity sponsors The Culture of Belonging Award to recognize staff who advance equity, diversity, and inclusion. This award is presented to staff members who go beyond expectations to create and support an open, inclusive, welcoming, and equitable workplace environment for all members of the Lincoln community. These staff members speak up as an ally when they see unfair treatment and puts diversity and inclusion principles into practice in their everyday work—regardless of the work they do.
Lincoln is committed to creating an inclusive workplace founded on a culture of respect. Nominees support colleagues in feeling welcome as their authentic selves and empower all members of the community to contribute and participate fully. Nominees who are supervisors go the extra mile to create a culture of belonging in their teams and the larger organization.
Ways in which Lincoln employees can promote a culture of belonging and inclusivity include:
Two Culture of Belonging Award recipients will be honored: one exempt staff member and one non-exempt staff member. Winners must be full-time regular staff members.
These nominations will go directly to the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE). The OIE committee will review the nominations present the recommendation to the Award Selection Committee. The OIE committee will consist of Title IX Deputies and HR's Director of Labor & Employee Relations.
The recipients will receive a $500 stipend and a commemorative plaque.
The Community Partnership Award has been created to honor the valuable partnerships that exist on and off Lincoln University's campus and to celebrate community efforts that advance human understanding and public citizenship.
Award recipients are selected based on their initiative, leadership, and involvement in projects that embody the spirit of genuine partnership and benefit the overall community.
For this award, the successful community partner should have displayed significant effort, made a meaningful contribution, and have supported the Lincoln University community. This could be demonstrated through the following:

The Community Partnership Award will be given to an external community service organization or agency, community-based organization, department, or contracted LU vendor for outstanding community work in partnership with Lincoln University. The Community Partner (either on-campus or off-campus) should have provided assistance and support to a Lincoln University student organization or programs and events that support student success.
Nominations may be submitted by faculty, staff, or student and forwarded to the committee. The Staff Recognition and Rewards Committee will serve as the award selection committee.
The recipient of this award will receive a commemorative plaque and complimentary tickets (up to 2 tickets) to attend Lincoln University's first home football game hosted in the fall semester.
The annual Lincoln Lion Exemplary Performance Award is a staff honor, recognizing staff members who have made significant contributions to the University's pursuit of excellence in education, research, and community service.

Two Lincoln Lion Exemplary Service Awards recipients will be honored: one exempt staff member and one non-exempt staff member.
The recipients will receive a $250 stipend and a commemorative plaque.
The Teamwork Recognition Award recipient goes out of their way to help team members even if it is not technically their responsibility.
Teamwork involves one or two or more employees who share common goals and work in concert to assess a situation, plan a solution, or resolve a problem.

The Peer Recognition Awards provide the opportunity for faculty and staff to acknowledge and express appreciation for staff co-workers who make a difference in everyday work life.
Consistently exemplifies the University's mission and core values of integrity, collaboration, respect, and high-level customer service; been with University at least one (1) year.
Consistently exemplifies the University's mission and values of respect, responsibility, and results; employed by Lincoln University for at least three (3) consecutive years as a regular full-time employee.

Regular full-time Lincoln University staff members are eligible. Two Peer Recognition Award recipients will be honored; one exempt staff member and one non-exempt staff member.
Each honored recipient will receive a framed recognition certificate and Lion Reward Bucks valued at $75 to be redeemed at the University's Campus Store.
Customer service is defined as a series of activities intended to improve the level of customer satisfaction. At Lincoln, customer service means that a focus on positively impacting students' overall educational experience and internal and external stakeholders' interactions with University offices and programs.
Ways in which staff demonstrate customer service include the following:
Two Outstanding Customer Service Award recipients will be honored; one exempt staff member and one non-exempt staff member.
The recipients will each receive a $250 stipend, an engraved plaque, two complimentary tickets to Lincoln's first home football game of the fall semester, and access to the Lions Stadium VIP booth.
The Thoughtful Leader Award recognizes an employee who brings out the best in others. Nominees mentor or coach colleagues, especially those less experienced or newly hires, with exceptional skill.
The Thoughtful Leader Award is presented to a Lincoln staff member who consistently demonstrates a high level of commitment and dedication to their employees and the Lincoln workplace. Strong nominees create an environment that develops, empowers, engages, challenges, and motivates their staff and colleagues with a result of greater productivity, effectiveness, and a sense of belonging. They are problem-solvers and act with foresight and professionalism. These individuals also "live" the values of Learn, Liberate, Lead at Lincoln University.
A Thoughtful Leader nominee at Lincoln should exhibit the following attributes:

One recipient of the Thoughtful Leader Award will receive a $1,000 stipend to be redeemed for a relevant professional development course or seminar and a commemorative plaque. The award recipient's home department may utilize additional funds, if available, to supplement the remaining balance of the selected professional development course or seminar. If departmental funds are not available, payment of the remaining balance of the professional development opportunity will be the responsibility of the award recipient.
Recognizes an employee who proactively developed, implemented, or tried a new work method, system, or creative solution to address a problem or issue.
Innovation and a creative approach are vital to higher education; therefore, it is imperative to recognize and reward innovation throughout the organization. This award has been created to recognize staff — whether they've been at Lincoln for a few weeks or many years — who bring fresh ideas to their work, inspire a spirit of innovation, and take a bold approach to accomplish their work. Nominees can work in any position or area on campus. A Game Changer could be a colleague that the nominee worked with on a project or from their unit, a manager, an employee. Individuals may self-nominate. This award shows that innovation flourishes at Lincoln!

No nominations will be accepted for this award in fall 2021. This award is given at the Faculty & Staff Institute.
The Core Values Award recognizes and rewards individuals who live the University’s mission and is a role model exemplifying all of the Core Values.
Any regular staff employee, exempt or non-exempt, who live the University’s mission and is a role model exemplifying all of the Core Values.
Two (2) award recipients will be selected:
Any regular full-time staff employee, exempt or non-exempt in good standing.
Respect: to consider every member of the community worthy of high regard.
Responsibility: to be willing to answer for one’s conduct and fulfill obligations; and to choose for oneself between right and wrong.
Results: to work diligently to achieve desired outcomes.

"The Willowdale Chapel has rendered exceptional outreach and engagement within Lincoln's community through its supportive partnership with Lincoln University. The Chapel has provided volunteers from its congregation to help with our student move-in process for many years. The members of Willowdale Chapel's Jennersville campus also join the students of Lincoln University each year for a Sunday church service at the Mary Dod Brown Memorial Chapel, entitled Lincoln Love Sunday with Willowdale Chapel."

"Chief Partee has gone above and beyond in an attempt to make the Department of Public Safety a better department, and he has greatly succeeded at doing do. He has also made the university a safer environment, especially in the time of the pandemic. Due to Chief Partee’s COVID-19 management plan, he has worked tirelessly on over the summer, taking little to no time off for himself."
