Venus D. Boston serves as the Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary for Lincoln University (Pennsylvania), the nation’s first degree-granting Historically Black College and University. Prior to arriving at Lincoln University in 2022, she spent eight years serving in the Assistant and Deputy Chief Legal Counsel roles, respectively, at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She also served as an Adjunct Professor of Business Law in the College of Economics and Finance at WSSU teaching and mentoring those who plan to follow in her footsteps one day.
At Lincoln, Venus provides advice and counsel as the university’s attorney and maintains responsibility for the supervision and administration of Risk and Compliance and Title IX.
Venus is a three-time honors graduate of North Carolina Central University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Public Administration, and a Juris Doctorate from the University's School of Law. Since her Senior Year of High School, she has served in leadership positions for her classes and has earned numerous awards, such as the Floyd McKissick Award in law school for outstanding leadership and academics. She has also conducted several internships, including a Judicial Clerkship with a Federal Magistrate Judge for the United States Eastern District of the State of North Carolina and serving under two United States Attorneys as a Federal Assistant United States Attorney Law Clerk. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Venus is a powerhouse. She understands the bright future ahead of her and is motivated to help others reach their bright future as well. Venus is an active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA). She is the NACUA representative for the African American Affinity Group and serves on NACUA's Board Advisory Council on Diversity and Inclusivity.
Venus is excited about her future, but what she’s most excited about is the path that’s been outlined for her that will afford her to give back to those that trail behind her. Her motto: “If I ONLY help myself, I’ve done nothing. If I can help someone else, I’ve accomplished everything.”
