How to Find Full Text Articles

Lincoln University provides access to full text articles from scholarly magazines and newspapers.  This guide is designed to help you find the full text format of your choice.

Q: How do I find a journal article on a topic?

  • Consult your instructor to find a topic
  • Select the right database after looking through the full text database list
  • If you are using EBSCO Host use Academic Elite
  • Don't be afraid to change keywords in your topic. It could bring a better result.

Q: How do I find a newspaper article on a topic?

  • Use Newsbank, this database contains full text newspaper articles from 1992 to current year.
  • Use Lexis Nexis and select news category of your choice
  • Source list will provide you the newspapers listed

Q: How do I find a specific journal article if I have a journal source?

  • If you have the article citation (article title, author, journal name, volume, pages and dates) check EBSCO Host.  It will tell you if full text access to the journal you are looking for is available.
  • If the specific article is not available in full text format, fill out an Interlibrary Loan Request to get the article from another library
  • If you need assistance, ask the Reference Desk

Q: What if I am still having trouble?

The Library has a program called the Research Assistance Program or RAP.  The program provides students with one-on-one assistance with term papers and other research at the Langston Hughes Memorial Library. The tremendous growth in both computerized and traditional paper resources has made it imperative that students have a thorough understanding of these basic search tools.
