LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia has awarded Lincoln University a mini-grant to stage mental health awareness events. The award was announced by Matthew B. Wintersteen, Ph.D., director of the Higher Education Suicide Prevention Coalition and associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior of Thomas Jefferson University.
The grant will be used to launch First Thursdays Mental Health, Suicide Prevention, and Wellness Campaigns every first Thursday of the month during the spring 2020 semester.
The campaign will also involve engaging students at such events as recreational swimming, open gym, yoga, and even fashion shows.
“The goal is to heighten the visibility of campus and off-campus partners to prevent suicide and increase the reporting of concerns about at-risk students,” said Dr. Lenetta R. Lee ’85, dean of the college and vice president for student success. “We’re very thankful to Thomas Jefferson University for this mini-grant.”
