President Allen writes about the importance of belonging, community for Black students in higher education
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – As part of Women’s History Month, President Brenda A. Allen wrote an op-ed titled, “The Journey Home: The importance of belonging and community for Black students in Higher Education,” that is featured on Blavity.com.
Her editorial is an intimate journey about her life as a Black girl in Newark, New Jersey, to the president of her alma mater, Lincoln University.
“Black women in my life cooked gourmet meals without measuring cups, on stretched budgets without accounting courses, calculators, or culinary school. And these people are not mythical; they and we exist through generations and circumstances.”
