Extensive Safety Measures in Place for Lincoln University’s 2021 Homecoming

Homecoming

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — Two years after the last in-person Homecoming, Lincoln University is once again hosting a more traditional event, "The Return to the Den" Homecoming 2021, from Sunday, Oct. 10, to Sunday, Oct. 17—but with some significant changes.

“We are thrilled to once again celebrate, in person, our great University with alumni, students, faculty, staff, and University friends,” said Deborah Johnson, associate vice president of Alumni Relations. “However, the health and safety of the Lincoln Community is our top priority. So, our on-campus activities will be guided by the best public health practices available to mitigate and monitor the threat of Covid-19.”

These include:

  • Holding all events outdoors (and subject to change).

  • All attendees will need to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus (proof of vaccination status will be required) or provide a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of arrival to Lincoln University’s main campus.

External tents have been erected and traditional indoor gatherings have been relocated to open-air venues. The homecoming football game will be held off-campus, in nearby Coatesville, Pennsylvania, with similar safety restrictions. Lincoln University will provide a shuttle service.

Highlights of the week include the Saturday, Oct. 16, football game between the Lincoln Lions and the Elizabeth City (N.C.) State University Vikings; the coronation of Miss and Mister Lincoln University of Pennsylvania; a student career fair; the Greek Step Show; and various alumni and student events.

“Homecoming is the time when we alumni, students, and friends celebrate the best of the many memories we share here at Lincoln,” added Johnson. “Reconnecting with our brothers and sisters on the Yard and throughout the campus recaptures our youth. And we rally for our football team and tailgate late into the night.”

“This year, our goal is to provide a celebratory experience while maintaining the best practices to ensure safety on our campus.”
