Maryland Governor Wes Moore to Deliver Commencement Address at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania
Lincoln University, PA - March 7, 2025 — Lincoln University is honored to announce that Maryland Governor Wes Moore will be the commencement speaker for the Class of 2025. The commencement ceremony will be held on May 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the International Cultural Center Lot (ICC Lot) on the campus of Lincoln University.
Selected for this esteemed role by Lincoln’s faculty and endorsed by the Board of Trustees, Governor Wes Moore will also be conferred with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.
Governor Moore, known for his dedication to inclusive policy and social justice, will share his insights and words of encouragement with the graduating seniors as they stand on the brink of their future careers and endeavors. His role as the speaker underscores Lincoln University’s commitment to leadership and community service—values deeply embedded within the institution’s ethos.

Wes Moore is the 63rd Governor of the state of Maryland. He is Maryland’s first Black Governor in the state’s 246-year history, and is just the third African American elected Governor in the history of the United States.
A graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, Moore furthered his education at Johns Hopkins University, where he became the institution's first Black Rhodes Scholar, later earning a Master’s from Oxford.
Moore's military career includes serving as a lieutenant in Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division. Upon returning, he was appointed a White House Fellow, focusing on national security and international relations. Moore is also
an accomplished author, with works like “The Other Wes Moore” and “Five Days” addressing issues of race and equity.
In addition to his writing, Moore founded BridgeEdU to help underserved students succeed in college, which was later acquired by Edquity. His leadership at the Robin Hood Foundation led to significant contributions toward alleviating poverty in Maryland.
