How to Receive Mail

  • The address that you use for having mail and packages shipped to you is:
    Lincoln University
    SMR – [Enter SMR number]
    Student’s Name

    PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CITY IS CALLED LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, NOT OXFORD.  If you use Oxford, it will delay your mail or packages to the extent of being returned to sender by the US Postal Service
  • Do not call to see if you have a package, no package information will be given over the phone.
  • If you are not signed up for text messages and would like to be, stop by the mailroom and give us your information (Telephone number and your phone carrier – Verizon, T-Mobile  At&T, etc.) You may also email your information to copycenter@lincoln.edu .
  • If you receive a package that is too large to fit into your mailbox or that needs to be signed for, you will receive a notice in the form of a text message or an email to your Lincoln University email. 
  • Packages and any mail that arrives with a tracking number will be returned to sender if not picked up within 30 days.
  • Interoffice mail should have the recipient’s name and department. Location is not needed.

  • We do not accept personal mail and packages for employees.  Personal mail should be sent to private residences.

  • Mail for individuals who are no longer employed at Lincoln will continue to be sent to their last department.  It is the responsibly of that department to determine the disposition of the mail

  • **Students must have picture ID to pick up packages**

  • If you have not received your package and you believe that it should have arrived, bring a tracking number and we will try to locate the package.

Mailboxes, Keys, Locks

  • When students arrive on campus for the first time, students will be required to sign up for a mailbox.   There is no charge for signing and receiving a key. 
  • Students keep the same key and the mailbox number the entire time they are enrolled at Lincoln.  When students graduate or withdraw, please turn your key back into the mailroom.  Do not turn the key in to anyone else. The Mailroom is not responsible for those keys.   It could result in a $100.00 charge on your account.
  • You receive a key free of charge, you are required to check your mailbox with your key.  We do not hand mail through the package window. NO KEYS!  NO MAIL!  NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Clean out your mailbox at least once a week, failure to do so can result in losing your mailbox privileges
  • Lock changes due to lost keys cost $100.00
  • If you lose your mailbox key, report it immediately to the Mailroom

Outgoing Mail

  • Outgoing mail is to be placed in the Black Drop Boxes located in the Mailroom area
  • Cross out all previous names or markings. Recipient’s name should be clearly identified.
  • Outgoing mail that is leaving campus is to have the department name to ensure proper billing.  Any mail that does not have an identifying sending department will be opened to determine the sender.
  • Large envelopes must be sealed.  #10 envelopes may be left unsealed and the flaps can be up or down.
  • For staff: when using a Purchase Order number or when using FedEx, UPS, or placing large orders: include “Attention Receiving” in the address.

When does mail arrive on campus?

  • US Postal Mail arrives on campus at 10:30 a.m.
  • FedEx, UPS and DHL Mail arrive on Campus between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Mail is put in the student Mailboxes the same day that it is received.  We do not hold mail for any reason.
  • Mail and Packages must arrive with your name that is on your student ID, any other names will be returned to sender if we cannot identify the recipient. 

Copies, Money Orders and Stamps

  • Money Orders can be purchased at the Cashier’s window in the Bursar Office.
  • Stamps are available at the campus campus store for purchase
  • We do not make copies for students or personal copies for employees
