The Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is an elective curriculum at Lincoln University, with a crosstown agreement with the University of Delaware. Coursework and physical training take place at the University of Delaware.
As a program, we recruit and retain quality Cadets who would best serve the Nation. We educate and train Cadets on Army officership, Army Values, standards, and operations. Cadets are coached and mentored to be leaders of Soldiers. Our result is quality Commissioned Army Officers of character, armed with the tools to succeed and ready to lead our Nation’s Soldiers.
By enrolling, you will gain practical, hands-on leadership experience. You will have the opportunity to develop management, communication, and decision-making skills in a non-threatening environment. Physical training and confidence-building activities – such as rappelling and obstacle courses – will challenge you mentally and physically. ROTC is for dedicated students who have the attitude and determination to excel while still getting the most out of their college experience.
Whether you’re in college or already in the Army, you can become an officer in today’s Army by joining ROTC. If you’re interested in enrolling in Army ROTC and you are in college, you can start by talking to the Army ROTC Enrollment Officer on campus about taking the Army ROTC basic elective course and about the incentives available, including opportunities to compete for two-, three-, or four-year merit-based scholarships.

The normal timeline for a Cadet with our program can be seen below and it is a 4-year path. Our program can be completed in as little as 3 years but Cadets would have to attend an extra training event called Basic Camp to catch up on the time and training they missed. Cadets who are on a normal 4-year track will complete Advanced Camp during the summer between junior and senior years. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this timeline please do not hesitate to contact us.
Initially, when Cadets enter the program there is no contractual obligation to serve in the Army (unless an Army scholarship is received)! When Cadets are in their Junior year they will then have to decide if the Army is something they want to pursue after college. At that point, Cadets will Contract with ROTC which then will obligate them to a length of service which is outlined below.
AD = Active Duty , ADSO = Active Duty Service Obligation , ARNG = Army National Guard , USAR = US Army Reserves , IRR = Inactive Ready Reserve
